Katie's Diary
for her breeding with Hudson |
April 20, 2011
Dear Diary, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, my babies!!! It sure was a
fight to get you here. You sure were BIG and you guys lined up in
all sorts of contortions to be born.
My first three girls were
born at home - my pinkie girl was first. I kept pushing hard -
REALLY hard - and there she was - halfway out. I knew she was a
big girl, I had a hard time pushing her all the way out - and I WAS
pushing with all my might. My VA mom helped me by pulling her out
gently since she was turned upside down and really hard to push!
There she was - BEAUTIFUL!!! Then, I took a little rest and had my
green girl an hour and 40 minutes later. She was easy - out she
came!!! BEAUTIFUL!!! Then 2 minutes later, i couldn't help
but push AGAIN. Ok, this big girl felt like the first. She
got about half way out again, and my VA mom helped me get her all the
way out with my next contraction. YAY!!!! THREE GIRLS!!!! I
LOVE THEM ALREADY!!!
Then about 30 minutes later, I started
pushing again. Yup, here comes another one. Oh boy, diary, I
am pushing so hard again, and he isn't going out all the way.
What's up with this? I hear VA mom say that she thinks he is
stuck. STUCK??? So, we worked together for a short while,
and this puppy just wasn't going to go. VA mom said that his head
just won't pass any further. Next thing I know, I am in the back
of a car on my way to the hospital around midnight. I kept pushing
and pushing anyway - but still to no avail. The Dr. was going to
have to do an operation to get him out. He is blocking the way!!!!
I went to sleep for a little while, and the next thing I knew, I had
my babies back with me and I didn't feel like I had to push any more.
THANK GOODNESS!!!
The big boy that was stuck was ok, along with
his brother. But, my last boy and girl - puppies 6 and 7 did not
survive the c-section. I am so very sad, diary. But, I have
5 very healthy puppies (as you will see), and I am loving them!!!
We are all so happy to be together!!! I am feeling fine and am so
happy to be a mom!!!
Off to go kiss the babies!!!
April 17, 2011
Dear Diary,
It has been a busy week! I was taken to the Dr to see if we
could figure out how many puppies I am expecting. Well, I heard a
lot of counting and then "is that one?" or "is that one?" So, I
really don't think we know for sure. I heard 7 and 8 kicked around
- I guess it is going to be around there. We are going to be
finding out for real very soon!!!
There is a non stop soccer match going on in my belly. I
would be throwing a lot of yellow cards if I were the ref!!!
I am counting down the hours now. I am getting SO EXCITED!!!!
It has been a long road, and I am not the most comfortable right now,
but I will soon have my babies to take care of and I can't wait!!!
My VA mom is here now too, so I know I must be getting close.
Her whelp box is set up and all this stuff is sitting around the room.
I am getting my temperature taken now too. I am sleeping a lot
getting ready. Next time I post, Diary, I am going to be a NEW
MOM!!!!!!
April 10, 2011
Dear Diary,
Well, I guess the question I have these days is - HOW much bigger
can I actually get??? I know the answer is "bigger" since I have
another week to go, but I just don't know where it is going to go?
I guess I 'can' get wider!!!
I am sleeping a lot these days, and
it is getting harder for me to find a position that is cozy. The
babies are kicking me hard now, so not a whole lot of true resting going
on. I am glad they are kicking - I like them feisty!!!!
I
can't wait until Wednesday. I am going to the Dr to get an x-ray
to see if we can count how many babies I have. SO EXCITING!!!
For my photo gallery this week, lot more of me. I am told that
I am "glowing" though. I know I feel that way on the inside
(despite the body of an overgrown watermelon!), I can't WAIT to be a
mommy!!!! Some of the pictures were taken with a camera phone, so
the lighting is a little weird - apparently I have cute moments when a
regular camera isn't available - imagine that!
I really AM
glowing, in a really uncomfortable kinda way!

April 3, 2011 Dear Diary,
I am continuing to grow these days. I am about 6 1/2 weeks
pregnant now - another 2 1/2 to go! I can't seem to get enough
food to eat!!!! I am hungry ALL the time! What's up
with that?
For the photo gallery this week, I had a rug to
stand and sit on this time - yay - no sliding! And, I guess it is
getting to be Easter time. All of a sudden I am wearing this thing
on my head that pins my ears back! It was worth it, because I am
pretty cute (if I do say so myself) - even though I am getting fat!
Just know that these pictures do not do me justice - if you could only
see me in person. I am not complaining, OH NO! Just part of
the journey - and I am so
thankful!!!
That is all for now, Diary. I am resting a lot
and making sure that I am taking very good care of my babies. It
seems like forever until they are going to get here, I can't WAIT!!

March 26, 2011 Dear Diary,
What a difference 10 days makes! I think I am starting to
show!!!!
I know that I can't curl up comfortably in a ball
like I used to, and my slim waist is GONE. I have a bump!!!
This is just the beginning - I am going to get big, and my body is
going to start resembling a watermelon, but it is SO worth it. I
am resting a lot and taking good care of my special buns in my oven.

I am trying to free stack, ok?! 5 weeks and counting! |

Ahhhh, basking in the sun at 5 weeks - soooo tired! |
|
| |
|
|

ALWAYS enjoy carrying around a slipper - pregnant or NOT!!! |
|
| |
|
|

This winter - we had 5 feet of snow! Look - I am SO lean!!! |

I am actually pregnant here at 4 weeks. Just starting
to get a little "thick." |
|
March 16, 2011 Dear Diary, YIPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! I saw
it with my own eyes - I AM PREGNANT!!!!
I was taken to the
doctor today (always glad to see me - and me them!) and they put me in
this blue "v" looking thing that was on the floor. I wasn't put in
it with chest down - NO - I was chest up!! Then they stretched my
legs out a little and put this wand with goo on my belly. Wasn't
sure what that was all about until I saw the monitor next to us, and
heard Jason jumping up and down with excitement when he saw the monitor.
YUP! There are water balloons on the screen - I'm
pregnant!!!!!!!!!! Wooooo hoooooo!!!!!!!!!!
I have
to be honest, diary - I haven't been very hungry lately. And, on
occasion, I have had this clear slimy stuff coming out of me. Not
usual things for me. So, I thought, AND WAS HOPING, it would be
true! I have witnessed my mom and grandma both having their own
puppies, and I was SO jealous that they weren't mine. Now it is MY
turn. I am so happy today. It is the BEST day. I have
posted the beautiful pictures of my babies! The first picture
shows four at a time - WOW (we really can't be sure how many total are
in there since ultrasound can't accurately predict litter count - but we
know there are many) - I can't wait!!!! They should be here around
April 19th. In the meantime, I am going to take VERY good care of
them. I am SOOOOOOOO happy!!!!! Will write again soon,
diary!

February 21, 2011 Dear Diary, Not much to report right now.
Waiting is going to be so hard. In the meantime, I am getting LOTS
of TLC from my family. Will write again soon.....
February 17, 2011 Dear Diary, The car is pointed towards CT
again today!!! We went ahead and had a repeat performance of
yesterday! Not much to add other than my hope that I am pregnant.
It will be about a month until I find out for sure - it will be a
lonnnng month!
Thank you to Richard, Henry and
all of my family!
The picture below was taken when I got
back today - can you see the glow???
February 16, 2011 Dear Diary, The car is pointed towards CT -
this must be the day!!! We got to Richard and Henry's house, and
before I knew it, this hunka hunka man dog comes barreling out of
nowhere!!! He thinks I am pretty hot stuff - which, of course, I
AM. Ok, this will work!!!
He IS everything everyone was
talking about. He will make a VERY good puppy daddy :)
Off
to the basement we go (I heard about the "basement" from my mama Maddy!).
This being my first time, I was nervous. But, after a few
minutes, I had little Hudson's making their way to find some eggs -
looking to create some babies!! After 30 minutes or so, I was
carried back to the car to rest for a while.
I am SO happy right
now. I am on the road to being a mom!!!
February 15, 2011 Dear Diary, It IS TRUE! JOY O JOY O
JOY!!!!!!!! I am being taken to the vet today to get my blood
tested to see where my progesterone level is to be bred.
HURRAY!!!!!
AND, I heard that the man is the HANDSOME
HUDSON that my mama Maddy was bred to last time. WOW, I heard
about him. He is the gorgeous Marlboro Man! NICE!
Who
cares about the pin prick, I am on my way to hopefully be a mom!
This is the BEST day ever!!!!
February 5, 2011
Dear Diary, As my first entry, I want to take a moment to tell my
family how thankful I am for all the love I get on a daily basis.
I am living now with Aunt Sharon, Uncle Mark and my human brother Jason
(along with 2 other V's - "Rikka the Rescue" and my "blood" Aunt "Kailee."
How can there be a Kailee and Katie in the same house? Well, that
would have been tough, so I am now also known as "Martha" after Martha's
vineyard by my new family. But, my old mom will always
knows me by Katie-Kate, so I will be both! It is so nice to be
THAT loved!
I came into season today. Nothing new here, I
have been through this a number of times. But, this time, I
overheard a telephone call between my old mom and my new mom talking
about a "breeding." Hmmmm, they couldn't mean me, could they?
Could it really be MY TIME???? Could it be MY turn????
Oh, pllllease tell me it is MY TURN!!!! I have always been on the
sidelines looking in. First my grandmother Lexi, than my mama
Maddy. Looking into the whelp box, easing myself in to see the
babies! Being the hall monitor as they got older, making sure they
were all ok and staying out of trouble. I always wanted my OWN
babies. So, I HOPE they decide that I can be a mom - I have
been such a good girl and SUCH a good helper, when on the outside
looking in.

Lexi likes the pudding...

I don't know WHERE Gunnar
